Welcome to the Land Transport Environment Committee (LTEC). LTEC was formed by Australia's National Environment Protection Council and the National Road Transport Commission to coordinate the introduction of initiatives to reduce the harmful environmental effects of motor vehicles (cars, trucks, buses etc). The main initiatives currently involve setting new emission standards for new and existing vehicles, developing fuel quality standards and reviewing Australia's vehicle noise standards. Diesel Fuel, Diesel Emissions, NEPC, NTC. Motor vehicles are the largest single contributor to urban air pollution in Australia's major cities. They are responsible for 17 percent of greenhouse emissions and a range other damaging pollutants including hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides and fine particles. Australia's cars, vans, trucks, buses and other vehicles are also a major source of noise and waste. A national approach being provided by LTEC is essential to reduce these harmful effects on public health and the environment.
