NATIONAL TRANSPORT COMMISSIONIn establishing a work relationship between the National Environment Protection Council (NEPC) and the National Transport Commission (NTC) (formerly the National Road Transport Commission) a Memorandum of Understanding has been initiated. Through this Memorandum of Understanding both parties have agreed to cooperate with each other in the development of national laws to control emissions and noise from all categories of road motor vehicles to harmoniously achieve the objectives of both parties. This Memorandum of Understanding is intended to provide a framework for coordination and consultation between NEPC and NTC, and to assist them in fulfilling their respective statutory functions and obligations, and should be read accordingly. The Land Transport Environment
Committee (LTEC - formerly MVEC) is established by NTC and NEPC and reports
to NTC and NEPC Committee on matters referred to it by the respective bodies. A copy of the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Environment Protection Council and National Transport Commission is available in PDF format below. Information about the National Transport Commission can be accessed by visiting their web site.
NATIONAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCILA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between NEPC and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) was agreed to in June 1997. The MOU establishes a Liaison Committee comprising senior environment and health representatives.
enHEALTH COUNCILThe enHealth Council is the peak environmental health advisory group for Australia and is represented by all jurisdictions. It was previously described as the Directors of Environmental Health Forum (DEHF). The enHealth has an important role (together with the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) in the development of policy in relation to environmental health issues (eg contaminated land issues). NEPC Committee considered it was appropriate to develop a working relationship with enHealth, in particular on matters on environmental health that may be considered in the development of National Environment Protection Measures (NEPMs). In establishing a working relationship a new Agreement has been initiated between the enHealth Council and NEPC Service Corporation. A copy of the Agreement is available in PDF format below.
STANDARDS AUSTRALIAStandards Australia are the national body which develops and markets Australian Standards on a wide variety of technical and commercial areas. Standards Australia do not set environmental standards, which is the province of the National Environment Protection Council and jurisdictional governments. Australian Standards are often referenced in National Environment Protection Measures, with regard to specific technical issues (eg. siting of monitoring stations and procedures for chemical testing). In establishing a working relationship an Memorandum of Understanding between the National Environment Protection Council and Standards Australia has been initiated, not only to establish and enhance communications between the two bodies, but also to establish the boundaries of standard making between the National Environment Protection Council and Standards Australia. A copy of the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Environment Protection Council and Standards Australia is available in PDF format below.
