ANZECC and EPHC

ANZECC and EPHC

In 2001, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) reshaped the ministerial council structure. As a result the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC) ceased to exist with its environmental protection components being taken over by EPHC.

During 2010, COAG again reviewed the minsterial council system and refocused the work of councils.  Consequently, EPHC ceased operations and the work has either benn completed or tranisitioned to the new Council.

The new Standing Council on Environment and Water replaces EPHC; however, due to legislative requirements under the National Environment Protection Council Act, the Naitonal Environment Protection Council (NEPC) will continue within the new structure. NEPC meets simultaneously with the new Council.  Further information  can be found at www.scew.gov.au.

Previous EPHC work has been maintained for historic purposes on the EPHC website under the tabs in the left side bar.

ANZECC documents relating to environmental protection matters released by ANZECC prior to the formation of EPHC are available below.
